Green Weight Loss Smoothie!

Are working from home now, the gym is closed, and need some weight loss motivation?  A good way to keep the weight off is eating healthy and making good choices in your own kitchen.  We created this green smoothie that you can  make every morning to help lose weight.   It’s full of vitamins, fruit and vegetables.  It will help you attain quicker weight loss , and give you a great start to your day.

Below are the ingredients and  you can simply add them together and blend.  Get yourself a good blender, so you can use it every morning!

1 banana

1/4 cup of 0% greek yogurt

handful of frozen kale according to taste)

4 cubes of frozen spinach

3/4 cup of frozen fruit

1 thumb of ginger

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 cup crushed ice

1 blender

1 set of measuring cups

Small bowls to hold fruit

Healthy Barley and Beef Soup

Make this soup the night before to allow time for its flavours to develop.  Pour hot servings into a thermos to take for lunch, or reheat individual portions in the microwave as needed.  Serve the soup with crusty bread, crackers or pita chips.

  • Cooking spray
  • 2Cups chopped onion
  • 1 pound chuck steak, trimmed and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped peeled carrot
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 5 cups fat free beef broth
  • 1 cup uncooked pearl barley
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup no salt tomato puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 bay leaves

Heat a large Dutch oven over medium heat.  Coat the pan with cooking spray.  Add onion and beef to the pan; cook for 10 minutes or until the onion is tender and beef in browned, stirring occasionally.  Add chopped carrot and celery to pan; cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Stir in garlic; cook 30 seconds.  Stir in the uncooked barley and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil.  Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 40 minutes or until barley is done and the vegetables are tender.  Discard bay leaves.  Makes about 6 servings

Cranberry Glazed Orange Muffins!

These Glazed Cranberry-Orange Muffins are perfectly moist, soft and the exact right balance of sweet and tart.

They are just perfect!

  • Perfectly moist…thanks to the yogurt in the batter.
  • Perfectly soft…thanks to the butter in the batter.
  • Perfectly flavored…thanks to the orange and the cranberry.
  • Perfectly sweet-tart balanced…thanks to the right balance of sugar and tart fresh cranberries.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar 
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 drops Orange Vitality or Tangerine Vitality essential oil
  • 1 1/2 cup fresh cranberries

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp orange juice
  • 1 drop Orange Vitality or Tangerine Vitality essential oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 F. Spray 12 muffin tins with non-stick cooking spray, or line with paper or silicone baking cups.
  • In a stand mixer or large mixing bowl, cream the butter and then add the sugars, eggs, yogurt and vanilla and mix together. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix until thick batter forms.
  • In a small bowl or measuring cup, add the milk and 2 drops of Orange or Tangerine essential oil. Pour the milk-oils into the batter and mix until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the fresh cranberries. Spoon into the prepared muffin tin and bake in the preheated oven for 22 to 24 minutes, or until muffins in the middle have cooked through. (If each muffin tin is really full from the batter, you might want to place the muffin tin on a baking sheet, in case the fresh cranberry juice spills over the edge. You don’t want it to burn on the bottom of your oven and make a smoky mess!)
  • Prepare the glaze in a small bowl by mixing the powdered sugar, milk, orange juice and Orange or Tangerine essential oil together. Add a little more powdered sugar until reaches desired glaze consistency.
  • Let the muffins cool some before glazing and serving.

Notes

Serve the Perfect Cranberry-Orange Muffins for breakfast or snack.

Yummy Cinnamon-Apple Chips Recipe

Young Living shared this tasty Cinnamon-Apple Chips recipe and we tested them out over the Summer.
They are DELISH!
We’re looking forward to apple picking this Fall and making this recipe several times!

We hope you enjoy these Apple Chips as much as we do!

Ingredients🍎

3 apples
¼ cup honey
1 drop Cinnamon Bark Vitality Essential Oil

Instructions🍏

Preheat oven to 225⁰ F.
Use Thieves® Fruit & Veggie Spray or Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak to clean the fruit.
With a mandolin or knife, thinly slice apples from top to bottom.
In a small bowl, combine honey and Cinnamon Bark Vitality.
Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and place apple slices on top.
Drizzle honey mixture over apple slices.
Cook in the oven for 90 minutes.
Remove cookies sheets from heat and place apple slices on cooling rack.
*optional….Sprinkle with Ground Cinnamon.
For best results, store apple chips in an airtight container and eat them within 24 hours.

Refreshing Watermelon Lime Spritzer!

3 Cups of Chilled Watermelon

1 Cup of Coconut Water

1 Drop of Young Living Lime Essential Oil

1 Sprig of Fresh Mint

Ice to chill

Blend watermelon, coconut water and oil together.  Pour over ice in glass add a sprig of mint and enjoy!
